Recognising Yeast Symptom Alerts

September 19th, 2008 by pbf

How do you know if you have a symptom of a yeast infection? When people first experience symptoms is the time they should visit the doctor and receive the proper diagnosis. Once they know the signs of yeast infection, they will be able to recognize them next time they occur and react appropriately.

Yeast infection symptoms differ, according to the location of the infection. One of the most guaranteed ways that doctors can tell if someone has a yeast infection is by examining swabs of the area under a microscope. This exam typically cannot be done at home. In some cases, based on the smell, look, and feel people may be able to tell that they have yeast infections.

Yeast Infection Symptoms Checklist

The symptoms of a yeast infection can vary depending on where the infection is located. Doctors can tell for certain whether what people have is a yeast infection by taking swabs and examining them under a microscope. Most people can’t do this type of exam at home. Nevertheless, people can sometimes tell by the look, smell and feel that they have yeast infections.

In general, the symptoms listed below are applicable to common versions of the candida yeast infections. If someone’s symptoms don’t match those found here or they’re unsure or confused, they should consider paying a doctor a visit.

* The infection smells like beer or bread. Yeast infections smell just like yeast, but the yeast used for baking and brewing comes from a whole other species. No other bacteria have the same smell so it’s a fairly good diagnostic.

* Women feel a burning sensation and intense itching that’s localized around the vagina. The itching isn’t always there. However, it can get so bad that people can barely walk, let alone use their bikes to go to the drugstore or doctor’s office to have it treated.

* Vaginal Yeast infection discharges often appear in clumps of white matter. Majority of medical descriptions liken the stuff to ricotta cheese. The discharge can range from thick and non-clumpy to a bit yellow to clear and filmy.

* Urination and sexual intercourse are often painful. In yeast infections, the burning sensation accompanying peeing often starts once the urine hits the out

Women can experience each yeast infection symptom differently. Yeast infections have a consistency and odor that is distinct and that is how many women are able to identify them. Some signs and symptoms aren’t as noticeable with a simple yeast infection. They could indicate something more severe is present. A doctor can give a patient the right diagnosis for yeast infection along with treatments. After this it is very important to follow this yeast Infection symptom to the letter

What is the cure for nail fungus?

September 10th, 2008 by admin

Even though there are several prescription medications available on the market for treating and curing nail fungus, these drug are expensive and are known to be harmful. Side effects include liver damage, nausea and headaches. These medications are required for a minimum of three months and up to six months to be effective and even then are only effective 50 — 70% of the time.

It is worthwhile to note that there are alternatives to prescription medications that work without harmful side effects and cost much less. Grapefruit seed extract, a well-known anti-fungal remedy that can be purchased from most health food stores is available for around $10 a bottle. A 50-50 mixture with either olive oil, coconut oil, or vitamin E as a carrier can be applied topically to the infected area of the toe. Used consistently, grapefruit seed extract can eliminate the pesky fungus. Tea tree oil is another anti-fungal agent that can be purchased from the health food store, delivering equally impressive results. Again dilute 50-50 by using olive oil, coconut oil or vitamin E as a base and apply directly to the infected area. Results of healing should be noticeable within the first few days and continued application will result in eradication of the infected area and elimination of the fungus altogether.

Goodbye Fungus! Home Remedies for Nail Fungus

September 5th, 2008 by admin

Nail fungus is caused by bacteria that feed on the natural surface of the nail in usually warm, damp areas. The look of the nail might turn to a murky yellow color and the nail may become thick and break off, leaving a less than pleasant appearance.

There are several home remedies that can be used to treat nail fungus including:

*Soak your nails in a bowl or basin of Listerine Mouthwash. The powerful germ killers in this mouthwash will easily eat away at the fungus and will leave your nails looking clean and fresh!

*Fill a large bowl or basin with equal portions of distilled vinegar and warm water. Soak them for approximately 15-30 minutes and wipe your feet clean when done.

*Apply Eucalyptus oil directly to the nail which will kill the fungus.

*Put a few drops of tea tree oil on your nails twice daily.

*While you may not like the smell, try putting a few garlic cloves in your shoes and wear all day.

*Apply a dab of Vick’s Vapor Rub to your nails. The Eucalyptus oil within the rub will also help kill bacteria.
